Learn Spanish in Patagonia - Bariloche
City | School facilities | Free time | special programs
City Info:
Bariloche, situated lakeside in the Andes Mountains, is the tourist capital of South America's Patagonia region. The “Capital of Patagonia” is mainly known for its world-class ski resort at the Cerro Cathedral and its beautiful nature of the Nahuel Huapi Nature Resort. From the town it is easy to arrange ski trips in the winter (June - September) and white-water rafting, climbing, and trekking throughout the year. While many students prefer the big-city life in Buenos Aires and Santiago, Bariloche provides a quieter mountain resort atmosphere, with a slower pace and cleaner air
The School
The building of our school is situated only five blocks from the city centre in a quiet neighbourhood. Nevertheless, shops, bars and restaurants are close and only a short walk away. The building further contains a Patio area for school lunches and parties. There are many housing options in the direct neighbourhood.

Spanish courses in Bariloche
Activities & Climate (free time)
Studying a language abroad means more than attaining fluency. We also want to ensure that your time in Latin America will be the experience of a lifetime. To help you gain new Latin perspectives and to best understand the local culture, we take on the responsibility to coordinate optional social events. A typical student week involves activities such as skiing (seasonal), rafting and trekking tours, happy hours and local festivals. Overnight weekend excursions include mountain trips, visits to surrounding villages such as Santiago de Chile, and outdoor adventures.
SPECIAL PROGRAMS
Spanish and Ski
Santiago, Chile, and Bariloche, Argentina, have easy access to Andes ski resorts. Flexible class schedules will allow you to learn Spanish with frequent escapes to the slopes.
Included: weekly lift tickets. One ticket during the week and another on the weekend. Students may select which days go skiing based on weather conditions.
COMBINATION Bariloche
ECELA offers you not only the opportunity to explore the Argentinean and Chilean capital but also invite you to explore the tourist capital of Patagonia, Bariloche.
The city offers you a calm ambiance and beautiful landscapes. The rivers and the mountains are the ideal environment to combine your Spanish course with fantastic trips and a rich regional culture.
There are direct flights from Buenos Aires and Santiago to Bariloche, so that you can combine your Spanish course in a big city with a stopover in Bariloche. You can also divide your Spanish program to three schools, for having a maximum experience of culture!
The airfare and the transfer between the different schools are included in the price of the program and you can start in the city you would like to.
HOUSING
During your stay you have several housing options. You can either have us arrange you a room in a student apartment or organize a home stay with an Chilean upper-middle class family. Of course, it is also possible to arrange a room yourself.
Shared Apartment: Our most popular housing option is the shared apartment, where you will live with other students. No meal plan is available with the shared apartments, however you have kitchen access to prepare your own meals. Furthermore, cooperation with other students is necessary as the common areas are maintained only once per week. The student apartment is the best option for everyone who wants to combine the Spanish experience with meeting new friends. All apartments are fully furnished and equipped.
You may have a private or shared room, with a same-sex roommate selected by our staff.
Family Stay: To make your immersion program complete, you may have us arrange a home stay with a local family. We strongly recommend this option as it allows you to practice and to improve your Spanish in a natural environment while also exposing you to the local culture. All families are carefully selected and provide the student with a private room, kitchen access, and comfortable surroundings. You may have a private or shared room, with a same-sex roommate selected by our staff.
